Wood Chucks
Usually once a year we, as a family, help cut and stack wood at G’pa and G’ma O’s house (my in-laws).
The family hard at work.
My niece – she is a workhorse (as well as being creative, adorable, and funny), as is my oldest nephew (the younger boys are too, actually). They got it from their mom, I’m sure. If I can raise my kids to work as hard and be so well-mannered as my sister-in-law’s kids, I will be pleased.
My nephew, learning to use a chain saw. He did great and didn’t put it down for pretty much the rest of the day.
Did I mention he is a bit of ham?
My niece and younger nephews helped stack. They did a great job. Whenever I stack wood, I have to redo the pile once or twice to keep it from rolling out on the ends. My neice made it look easy.
The chainsaw-ers are kept busy.
Me, I stood around and plugged Sunita’s ears, took pictures and made lunch. It seems all this work makes for hungry bodies. We descended on their kitchen like a plague of locust. I, for one, really had no reason to eat like a pig, but would I let a little thing like that stop me? No way.
Ok, I actually did work a little. But really, A VERY LITTLE.

Such kind words and great photos. Your help was invaluable- we gotta eat! Plus, when you bring your sweet distraction along…
So glad we’re in the same piggy family
It’s like seeing a machine at work when everyone comes out to help with the firewood! I am amazed every year as I watch the firewood stacks grow – row after row and pallet after pallet. The marking and cutting and splitting and stacking – what a great crew!!! And my appreciation lasts all through the fall, winter and spring as I fill the stove with firewood that keeps us warm. I am so grateful for ALL your hard work (all 9 of you) (oh, and Mark, too!)!!! Thank you SOOOO much!
