I have a great leek, barley and short rib soup recipe. I guess it’s more wintery, but it freezes well so it might be something worth making now. I know I’m late on this comment too, but even if your leeks are gone maybe you can use it next year! I also love that it uses short ribs because I never know what to do with those (we get a lot when we buy a side of beef). Using the short ribs creates a really flavorful broth. Here’s the link:

I’m interested in your results. Hopefully it’ll pan out a little better than the $90 strawberry jam I made last year. The taste is beyond compare with store bought, but c’mon!

Hmmm…are our microclimates similar enough that I could hire you as a consultant? Maybe next year I’ll get it together enough to grow something. Probably not. It is fun to see what’s coming up our first spring in this house though. We’ve got the short daffodils (which I’ve never seen before) and one lonely tulip bulb coming up so far.

I love your garden gnomes!

Thanks Gypsy – that looks wonderful. I think I will try it within the next week. And my work in the garden is pure joy (for me). To eat what I’ve grown is the icing on top.

I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but it gets great reviews, it sounds good, and it calls for 2 cups of leeks:
